Operation Freebird

Every year, the week before Thanksgiving, Adams County Fire Rescue takes part in Operation Freebird. The event is put on by the Adams County Sheriff’s Office with generous assistance from many people in the community. Operation Freebird provides a complete Thanksgiving meal for those in need along with health screenings and other community services that are offered. In past years, ACFR has participated in this community event by showing children the value of having smoke detectors in their homes along with sharing other safety tips. We also team up with Mile High RETAC to teach the community CPR and the use of AEDs.

Trunk or Treat

Every year, usually the Friday night before Halloween, we participate in Adams County Sheriff’s Office Trunk or Treat event along with Adams County Office of Emergency Management, and Adams County Animal Management. In the past few years, the event has been held at Clear Creek Valley Park and kiddos are invited to wear their favorite costumes, meet first responders, and check out each agency’s apparatus and learn more about safety in their community. Our fire prevention team is also on had to share fun safety tips.

Toy Drive

We held our first annual Toy Drive in December of 2021, along with Adams County Sheriff’s Office, and Boyer’s Coffee. The event was a huge success as our firefighters and administration bought presents for Adams County children in need, along with toy donations from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, the Boyer’s staff, and the public. In the past few years, the event has grown tremendously. The toy drive is now held at the Walmart Supercenter at 9901Grant Street. We are grateful to so many of our citizens who stop by that day to donate to this important and fulfilling cause.
